I am trying to complete a test migration but it keeps failing saying that the 'RemoteHostName' parameter is null upon executing the New-MoveRequest command. I have checked the prerequisites and they seem to be fine.
Error: "Submit Pending Jobs Failed to submit new move request for... -RemoteHostName Cannot bind argument to parameter 'RemoteHostName' because it is null."
The error "Cannot bind argument to parameter 'RemoteHostName' because it is null" typically occurs due to the following:
1. Misconfiguration in Exchange Pro
2. Proxy Addresses
3. Incorrect SMTP addresses
Open Exchange Pro | Source Forest (on-prem) | Sites tab | and make sure you have MRS Proxy host name FQDN entered under O365 Proxy column.
Additional Solutions
The target mailbox doesn't have an SMTP proxy matching the value listed in the error message.
The issue with this mailbox move is shown in the warning before the error when the the new-moverequest runs a whatif statement.
Add a SMTP Address to the proxy address of this Mail Enabled user account in the target. Once this is complete retry the migration.
Confirm all the Proxy Addresses in your source are listed as Accepted Domain in your target O365
Remove or correct an incorrect SMTP addresses
This should resolve this error. Contact Product Support if the error still remains.
