Question
Our mail users store their sent items in folders using the "Send and File" action. When we migrate to Exchange, we noticed the messages are only in the Sent folder.
How can we have the messages in both folders?
Answer
This is both a limitation of Outlook/Exchange and a Notes Migrator configuration issue.
It is not possible to migrate the source message(s) to both the 'Sent Items' folder and a Lotus Notes personal folder.
This is actually a single email, and not multiple emails. Lotus Notes allows for a single document to be stored in multiple folders.
Notes Migrator migrates the single message based on the first folder or view where the message is found.
If the message is a Sent item, and it was added to a folder, then the message will be migrated to the Sent folder if the Notes Migrator migration profile is configured to do so.
If you want Notes Migrator to migrate the message to the custom folder and not the Sent items, then modify the CMTe migration profile and select "Preserve custom folder name if possible" (at bottom of first tab).
Edit your Migration profile document in "1. Configuration \ 2. Migration profiles" view
Select "Preserve custom folder name if possible" in the 'Migrating Sent items' section.
This will force Notes Migrator to process the 'Sent' folder last, allowing a message to be migrated to their respective folder.
Note: If Sent messages are stored in a personal folder, or messages are stored in multiple folders, you will see a message in the log stating the message was skipped due to duplicate ID. This means the message was already migrated to the first folder the message was encountered.
