What can be done in order to troubleshoot issues that occur in SQL Server Settings section of Notes Migrator for Exchange? (VIDEO)
Resolution 1
Verify SQL Server and SQL Server Browser services are started in the SQL Server.
Resolution 2
Verify SQL Server Native Client is installed on Notes Migrator for Exchange servers:
1- Go to Add or Remove Programs
2- Look for Microsoft SQL Server Native Client
Resolution 3
SQL Express installs the default server as an instance called SQLEXPRESS on the database server, so enter the SQL Server host name as: NETBIOSNAME\SQLEXPRESS to resolve this issue.
Refer to Microsoft KB Article: 265805 - "How to connect to a named instance of SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2000 by using the client tools in the earlier version of SQL Server"
Resolution 4
If the SQL Express is remote or trying to access a SQL Express Server from a remote migration console; SQL Express does not allow remote connections by default. To be able to connect to this server remotely please enable remote connections on the SQL Express server. Refer to Microsoft KB Article: 914277- "How to configure SQL Server 2005 to allow remote connections"
To test the remote connection:
1- Go to a remote migration console
2- Right click on Desktop
3- Select New | Text Document
4- Change the extensions of the Text Document from .txt to .udl
5- Accept the change the file name extension
6- Right click on the file you changed the extension
7- Select Properties | Provider tab | Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
8- (1) Select the SQL server name from drop down list
9- (2) Select Use Windows NT Integrated security to log on the server
10- (3) Select NME40DB database on the server from drop down list | Test Connection
11- Verify test connection succeeded
If any of 8(1), 9, (2), 10(3), and 11 fails, SQL still does not allow remote connections.
Resolution 5
If the SQL server does not have access to SQL bulk insert directory:
1- Create the bulk import directory
2- Share with read/write permission for the user that runs Notes Migrator for Exchange and for the user that SQL runs as
Resolution 6
Use the SQL Server Authentication instead of Windows Authentication
Resolution 7
Verify Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication account is bulkadmin role member in SQL Server Roles:
1- You need to configure SQL Management Studio to check that role. Refer to Microsoft links:

2- Connect to server
3- Select Security | Server Roles
4- Expand Server Roles
5- Right click on bulkadmin
6- Select Properties and add Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication account
Resolution 8
Verify Delegation tab of SQL service account in Active Directory exist:
1- Go to Active Directory User as and Computers
2- Find the account
3- Right click and select properties
4- Look for Delegation tab; If you do not see Delegation tab:
setspn –A MSSQLSvc/ (You MUST use FQDN)
setspn –A MSSQLSvc/:1433> (You MUST use FQDN)
setspn –L
Validate “servicePrincipalName” has been setcorrectly. There will be two entries.
5- Open Active Directory Users and Computers and find SQL Service Account
6- Right click and Select Properties | Delegation Tab | Trust this user for delegation to any service | Save
SQL server must be in the same domain as the Notes Migrator for Exchange console.
SQL 2008 Native Client is not supported.
SQL 2005 Native client is compatible with SQL 2008 Server.
