When you click browse and select the parent folder which the mail or archive file resides, the tool scans the files to determine their associated design class. It will only show files with which it is aware of the design class. If the design class has not been specified within the notesdtapp.ini, the tool will not display the file(s).
- The design class is not specified.
- A known issue when select root folders to scan, for example, archives within a root folder results in the files not being displayed.
How do I determine the name of the design class (template name) of an nsf file?
1.) Open the Notes Client.
2.) Depending on the version of Notes, either File | Open or File | Application | Open.
3.) File | Application | Properties.
4.) The following screenshot shows the location of the design template name:
How do I specify the name of the design class?
You can specify the name of the design class from within the notesdtapp.ini file as below. Notes that you would need to replace the 'DbTemplName' with the actual name of the design class.
For Archives the following needs to be added to the [Notes] section:
[Notes]
ArchiveDesignClass=DbTemplName
For Mail Files the following needs to be added to the [Notes] section:
[Notes]
MailDesignClass=DbTemplName
For Personal Address Books the following needs to be added to the [Notes] section:
[Notes]
PABDesignClass=DbTemplName
For multiple values, separate with a pipe "|" character after the first entry for example:
[Notes]
MailDesignClass=MailTemplName|MailTemplName2
ArchiveDesignClass=ArchiveTemplName|ArchiveTemplName2
PABDesignClass=AddrBookTemplName|AddrBookTemplName2
How do I workaround the issue whereby files within the root folder do not show?
Please move, for example, the archive into a sub-folder and browse to selecting the sub-folder instead of the root 'C:'
- See solution SOL12449 also for more information on design classes
- Note that when we run the tool we write a temporary log file within the %TEMP% directory. Within this log should record an error specifying that the design class is not known
