Preventing the Issue of the ADAM Server with QMM Project Crashing
If the ADAM server with your project dies for some reason in the middle of migration with Quest Migration Manager all migration projects will be stopped. This article describes how you can prevent the migration failure if it happens.
Basically there are two methods to prevent the issue of the ADAM server with your project dying in the middle of migration with Quest Migration Manager.
First method is backing up a QMM ADAM Instance. You can back up an instance of ADAM using the Windows interface, the command line, or using a script or program.
For more information please see MSDN article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/adam/adam/backing_up_an_instance.asp
Alternatively, you can replicate the project to a different ADAM instance. Then you simply "fail over" to that other replica in case of issues with the original ADAM server. Creating a new ADAM instance is easy with the ADAM install wizard (adamsetup.exe). The wizard is explained in detail in the ADAM Reviewers Guide, you can download it from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=16F7CF1F-4728-4B34-944C-A7EDA2E510F4&displaylang=en
