CPUU prompts for credentials repeatedly while running on a windows 7 machine, even with administrative account(s) specified
Even while running the newest version of the Client Profile Updating Utility (CPUU ), on a windows 7 machine, CPUU requests credentials and fails to process even if they are specified.
With Extended logging enabled, the CPUU log shows many trace entries for the domains can be seen while it attempts to sort out the administrative credentials
For example:
[Trace] Domain name here.local' was extracted from the server name 'server.here.local'.
1/13/2012 12:57:29 AM Core [Trace] Servers 'DC.here.local, DC2.here.local, DC3.here.local, FS.here.local, FS2.here.local, FS3.here.local, FS4.here.local, FS5.here.local, Server1.here.local, Server2.here.local, etc etc for many lines.
The "Credentials Manager" contains many entries, some of which are corrupt or incorrect for the particular domain(s) involved.
Clear the "Credentials Manager" on the workstations being processed, then run CPUU.
-Open Control Panel
-Select Credential Manager
-Select 'Remove From Vault' for each entry (from the drop-down menu on the right end of an entry line).
-When no entries remain close and run CPUU
