Migration to Exchange 2007 - what is the requirement regarding Public Folders? (44851)

What are the requirements when planning a migration to Exchange 2007 environment?

Is it enough to have a single dedicated server with a PF store? Can it be any server or should the server with mailboxes hold a PF store?

Quick Start Guide for QMM says: "If you are planning to process Exchange 2007, you must create at least one public folder store on each server."

Is indeed a PF store needed on each server?

The statement in Quick Start Guide for QMM is incorrect and a request to correct this mistake has been already made.

There needs to be at least one Public Folder store in the entire org, and it is not necessary for this Public Folder store to be on the same server with the mail agent.     There is only one requirement - the mailbox store should have an associated PF store, but this PF store can be on any separate server.

It has been confirmed that in Exchange 2007 environments Quest agents (including Mail Source Agent) and EMWProf utility will not work if this requirement has not been met.

The section is called "Preparing the Source and Target Environment for Exchange Migration" and says:
Create Public Folder Store in Exchange 2007
If you are planning to process Exchange 2007, you must create at least one public folder store on each server.

This statement is wrong and should read: If you are planning to process Exchange 2007, you must create at least one public folder store in your org.

Note: If there is slow link between mailbox servers and the server with the associated PF store then there will be low performance. It is recommended to have an associated PF store on every site where you are planning to process mailboxes.    

The mail agent will log on to the PF store every time it starts to process mailboxes.
