Native Move migrations are failing with an "Invalid situation" error. The log file contains entries similar to the following example:
This error occurs when the PowerShell serverName differs from the OwningServerName.
The "PowerShell serverName" value is derived from the LEDN (Legacy Exchange Distinguished Name) of the mailbox database that is set as the target for the native move collection, e.g.:
/o=MYORG/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=SERVER1/cn=Microsoft Private MDB
The value appears to be set at the time the DB is created, depending on which server it is first created. The value does NOT change when the mailbox database moves between different nodes of a DAG.
There are 3 methods to address this issue; In descending order of impact and side effects:
RESOLUTION 1
RESOLUTION 2
Activate the mailbox database back on the DAG node specified for RPCClientAccessServer.
RESOLUTION 3
Change the RPCClientAccessServer to match the active node where the mailbox database is mounted using the Set-MailboxDatabase cmdlet with the RpcClientAccessServer parameter:
