Quota Violation error when commiting changes to a collection (4285360)

When making changes to a collection, you recive a mesage box indicating a quota violation.
the EMWMigration.log contains

2/16/2011 8:14:25 AM EMWCon::WMIHelper::WMI_ConnectServer Connect using WMI. Server: 'SERVERNAME'. Namespace: 'root\CIMV2'. Username: 'DOMAIN\SERVICEACCOUNT'.

2/16/2011 8:14:31 AM EMWCon::CModMisc::MsgBoxEx Quota violation

This is a WMI Error (Windows Management Instrumentation). WMI is taking up too much memory. This could be caused either by low memory availability or excessive memory consumption by WMI.

reboot the server in question.
