Due to different reasons the need arose to change the ADAM account, also called QMM service account or auxiliary account .
What is the best way to change this account?
Sometimes this is also needed if the password for the old account has been forgotten or the password for the QMM service account was changed and now some issues have been noticed.
Create a new account in AD.
Give the account all rights in AD (and in another trusted domain, if needed), add the account to Builtin Administrators group in both domains.
Give the account local admin rights on console computer.
Verify if you can use this account and administer AD and if you can connect to desired domain, if this works
If it works then proceed. Use delegation in QMM and give this account rights to ADAM project, to do this in QMM highlight the root (Migration Project), go to Tools - Delegate and proceed.
Then use ADAM ADSI Edit and add this account to admins:
1. Open ADSI edit for ADAM on the ADAM server.
2. Connect to your ADAM database "Configuration" (selected by default) by entering the correct port, etc.
3. Navigate to the following path:
configuration\roles\administrators
4. Right-click and select the properties of the administrators container.
5. Highlight the "Member" attribute and Click Edit
6. Click Add a windows account.
7. Enter the Account Name, and Click OK
8. Click OK to save changes to the attribute, and Close ADSI Edit.
Now log off, log on using the new account, start QMM, go to Project - Open Project - follow the wizard and change the auxiliary account, finish the wizard (important!), ensure it finishes successfully and close the wizard. Now the new account will be used by QMM when accessing ADAM.
