Computer has been processed using RUM, migration has been finished and QMM uninstalled.
Not it has been determined that there are some files and services left over from the processing? How can the service (agent) be removed?
Computer was not properly cleaned up when using RUM.
RUM offers 4 different procedures: discovery, processing, migration and cleanup.
Clean up is the final step, using this procedure the Quest agent and all installed data can be removed from a computer.
If QMM has been uninstalled and RUM cannot be used anymore then alternatively one can remove the agent (the service) manually.
The native MS tool sc.exe can be used and executed from command line on the affected computer, the syntax would be:
"sc delete QsRUMAgent"
This will remove the service. Remaining files/data can be deleted manually or the procedure can be automated, the folder which needs to be deleted is called "Quest Resource Updating Agent" and is located in the %\WINDOWS\ directory on the affected computer.
