Is it possible to execute SQL Processing Wizard locally on a SQL Server? -
Description
The SQL server is located across a slow WAN link, is it possible to execute SQL Processing Wizard locally on a SQL Server? Can a setup package be created and executed on a "local" SQL Server? Is the SQL Processing Wizard able to read settings and select user from an INI file (like VMOVER.EXE)?

Resolution
An installation (MSI) package can be created for such a purpose and the SQL Processing Wizard is able to read all settings from an INI file. F
To create the MSI package, follow these steps:
1. Highlight the existing SQL Task, in the window on right side, click "Select objects to process resources", select all desired objects to process. IMPORTANT: Filter Domains so all objects are from the same Domain; the SQL Processing Wizard can only run successfully when all selected users are from the same Source Domain.
2. From the Migration Manager Console | Active Directory Synchronization tab, select Tools | Export to | INI file.
3. From the top drop-down box, select "SQL Processing Wizard".
4. Check the "Create setup for this task" checkbox, specify a name for the file, and specify a path using the browse button.
5. Click the bullet button titled "Task configuration with executables".
6. Select the repermissioning options required
This will build an MSI package which can be installed on the SQL Server locally. This package will include all the SQL processing functionality, as well as all the information from the ADAM database regarding account mapping (migrated users). The installation is simple and straight forward.
After the installation has finished, the program will be located under Start | Programs | Quest Software.Note: This approach will always use the same INI file generated in during task creation.
IMPORTANT: The SQL Processing Wizard (SQLWizard.exe) is CPU intensive; it will load a separate SQL instance. If both processes are running on the same machine (SQL server) it may max out CPU resources. Please perform additional testing in your particular environment prior to running the SQL Processing Wizard locally. Also ensure the latest version of QMM is used. Starting from the version 7.5 SQL Processing algorithm was significantly improved addressing heavy CPU utilization and total time of execution.

Using this approach the SQL Processing Task will connect to ADAM and generate a new ini file every time it executes, and requires the QMM console to be installed. This method is more suitable for the delegation of resource updating tasks to local administrators running from the member server.
