Can I install ADAM on a computer which is not part of any domain? Can I join this computer to the domain later?
It is not recommended to install ADAM on a computer which is not part of any domain and when using a local account from a particular computer. In this case, when configuring the QMM project, the credentials will be supplied in this form:
local computer\username
It has been proven that this will not work and Technical Support strongly recommends to avoid using this approach. If this has been already done then the suggested workaround is:
1. Start using a service account which is a member of target domain.
2. Grant this account local admin rights on computer where QMM and ADAM are installed.
3. Delegate permissions to ADAM using the QMM GUI.
4. Add the account do ADAM admins using ADSI Edit.
5. In QMM go to Project and under Project properties change the service account to domain\username and type the password, finish the wizard. Now QMM should be able to migrate and synchronize objects.
