Is it possible to obtain from support some information about the SQP PW performance, based on some known historical data?
Unfortunately Support doesn't have such data, customers don't share this information with support.
A good idea is to perform some testing and see how the performance will be in your particular environment.
Some important information
-SQLPW (and other wizards) can process multiple servers simultaneously.
-Size of the DB is not the main factor and is almost irrelevant, SQLPW only sets permissions on DB and switches users (User Guide explains in detail what SQLPW updates). The amount of migrated objects which have SQL permissions and the amount of databases would be more important.
Some suggestions:
1. Run SQLPW against one server without modifying (updating) anything, when selecting objects select only few which definitely don't have SQL permissions, as result SQLPW will have to do the same procedure, it will have to scan the entire SQL server. This should give you an idea how long it takes.
2. Get an image of SQL server, put it in your lab and run SQLPW against it and you will get the most accurate data.
When reviewing some of the SQLwiz.logs it seems that when you select about 800-1000 users then it takes about 19-22 minutes to process a regular SQL server.
It is important to know that SQL permissions cannot be shared and once the server has been processed the source objects will lose their access and only target users will have the access. Knowing this it s a good idea to process the server gradually and every time process only the users which are ready to start using their target accounts.
