QMM // DSA - deletions not synchronizing from target to source (4316517)

For safety reasons the deletion of the matched objects in the target organization is not synchronized from target to source even if "synchronize object deletions" option is enabled in synchronization properties. As a result the source objects are not affected if the matched target objects are removed.

This is an additional safety feature designed into the product

If synchronizing deletions from target to source is absolutely required certain situations must be taken into consideration:

• if synchronization is being performed, and migration sessions used as well, and users are migrated to the target, then an undo on a migration session is performed, the sync will see this as a deleted user in the target, and thus delete the source object
• any deletion of an object in the target will cause the corresponding object to get deleted on the source, when multiple admins are involved, this can cause drastic ramifications.

To enable the deletion of target to source objects in QMM 7.3 and later versions:

1. Log on to the computer where DSA is installed.
2. In the Services snap-in, stop the Quest Directory Synchronization Agent Controller Service.
3. In the registry section HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesAeDSACtrl_[MACHINE]ConfigAD_Target_Part create a string value "CheckDeletionConflicts" equal to "1".
4. Restart the previously stopped service.

   Note: Repeat these steps for all the servers where DSA is installed.

   To enable the deletion of target to source objects in QMM 7.2 and previous versions, please download the 20060725 update from:

5. Log on to the computer where DSA is installed.
   1. In the Services snap-in, stop the Quest Directory Synchronization Agent Controller Service.
   2. Replace the original ad_tp.dll file located in the %Program Files%Quest SoftwareMigration ManagerDSA folder with the file from the update package (ad_tp.dll 2.0.84.3).
   3. In the registry section HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesAeDSACtrl_[MACHINE]ConfigAD_Target_Part create a string value "CheckDeletionConflicts" equal to "1".
   4. Restart the previously stopped service.

      Note: Repeat these steps for all the servers where DSA is installed.
