Error: "The Service has not been started" trying to browse for domain in QMM console or in RUM Move task -
Description
When creating a new domain pair in QMM console, or using RUM Move task, clicking on domain Browse is generating the "The Service has not been started" error message. What service is required for this to work? -
Cause
QMM relies on NetBIOS name resolution and using Computer Browser service to populate the domain list -
Resolution
To resolve the issue, NetBIOS/WINS support should be enabled in the environment. The service in question is a "Computer Browser" service.
However, NetBIOS is outdated and deemed unsecure. Thus the "Computer Browser" service is usually in Disabled state.
There's no need to enable NetBIOS-related services. Simply manually populate domain name when necessary and product will work.
