The PwdHlp.log file is taking up a large amount of space on the server in which the Directory Synchronization Agent is installed. What is the PwdHlp.log file and can it be deleted?
This log file tracks the copying of passwords during directory synchronization. If needed the PwdHlp.log file can be deleted without causing any problems. The log file is locked by the PwdHlp.dll therefore the Aepagent service must be stopped before deletion can occur.
Please take the following steps:
1. Stop the directory synchronization job that is using the DSA (Directory Synchronization Agent) located on the server in question.
2. Manually stop the Aepagent service on the DSA agent server by using the services.msc snapin.
3. Delete the PwdHlp.log file from the default location of c:\windows\aelita\aepagent.
4. Start the directory synchronization job that was previously stopped. This will automatically start the Aepagent service. There is no need to restart the Aepagent service manually.
