Unable to rename object during migration with the option "Never Merge" when the target object with the same name already exists in Active Directory.
Example Scenario:
Source Object: Test
Target Object: Test
Objective: Migrate and rename Test to Test1 and leave Test unchanged on the Target.
Result: After migration Session Test and Test1 are expected to be on the Target.
With the above scenario the use of Import file is required. Because the target object with the same name already exists on the target, the "Name" attribute needs to be specified in order to avoid Active Directory conflict.
This is an example of an INCORRECT file that will not achieve the required results. The file is Tab delimited:
SamAccountName SamAccountName
Test Test1
Please use the following CORRECT examples. "DisplayName" is not required but just convenient to differentiate two objects in Active Directory Users and Computers:
SamAccountName SamAccountName Name displayName
Test Test1 Test1 Test1
Or you can make a source object selection by its DN:
distinguishedName SamAccountName Name displayName
CN=Test,OU=Migr,OU=AD,OU=Users,DC=Quest,DC=Local Test1 Test1 Test1
When configuring the migration session please specify option: "Never merge: skip accounts that match any accounts on target"
Applies to all versions of Migration Manager for Active Directory.
