CCU fails to migrate machine and join it to the target domain. Error in log: "incorrect user or password" -
Description
CCU fails to migrate machine and join it to the target domain. Error in the logs seems to be an improper username or password used when joining the target domain. We have tested that this username and password works when manually joining the remote machine to the target domain. -
Cause
Incorrectly specified credentials in cachecredconf command line or password contains special characters. -
Resolution
To workaround the issue, please make sure that cachecredconf is used with correct command line parameters:
cachecredconf.exe –encrypt "Target_Domain\DomainJoiningAdmin;Password"
Where Target_domain is domain NetBIOS name.
If still doesn't work after new CCU MSI was built using update_msi.cmd, please check account's password for special characters like ':' or ';'
Alternatively, try to use another domain admin account without these special characters.
