The goal is to have in the target domain the same mail attribute as is in the source, however the DSA does not synchronize the values for attribute "mail". How can this be configured and is there a way to force QMM to synchronize this attribute?
QMM will synchronize all proxy addresses but the primary SMTP is always set by the RUS (Microsoft recipient update service) on target.
The attribute "Mail" will always contain the value of the Primary SMTP Address.
If the goal is to have the same "mail" value as in the source (Primary SMTP Address) the default RUS policy on target should be used instead of trying to synchronize the mail attribute.
Summary:
Mail attribute is not set by RUS but is populated based on the primary SMTP address, and the primary SMTP is set by RUS which is based on the default RUS policy.
Note:
In some exceptional scenarios it is absolutely necessary to populate this attribute when matching objects (eg. after dirsync was performed the next step is Notes to Exchange migration and matching should be performed by Email address). Please contact your Quest Account Manager if this is required.
Starting with QMM 8.2, this functionality has been included in the product. Also, a hotfix is available for QMM 8.0 and 8.1. Please see the following KB article for details - https://support.quest.com/kb/39768
