This is a requirement driven by client needs, typically, if the StoragePoint database has been moved to a new server location and the connection string needs to be updated in the application.
A connection string editor is not available via the StoragePoint user interface.
The following PowerShell script will allow us to view the current StoragePoint database details and will allow us to change it if required.
$farm = [Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPFarm]::Local $connectstring = $farm.Properties["StoragePointDbConnectionString"] write-host $connectstring
Make a copy of the output if you plan on updating the connection string value so it can be reverted to if necessary. The StoragePoint connection string should be similar to the following:
Server=<Name of SQL server or instance>;Database=<Name of StoragePoint Database - default is StoragePoint>;TrustedConnection=True <Implies AD Authentication is used>;App=Windows Server SharePoint Services; Time Out=15 <Time in milliseconds to connect to SQL Server>;Enlist=True
This provides the details of the connection string that StoragePoint uses to connect to the StoragePoint configuration database on the SQL Server. If you wish to update the connection string, for instance, to point to a new StoragePoint database copied to a new SQL server, you can take the existing connection string from the script output above and modify it to point to the correct location and then use that for the $connectstring value in the script below:
$farm = [Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPFarm]::Local $connectstring = "<<your new connection string here>>" $farm.Properties.Remove("StoragePointDbConnectionString") $farm.Properties.Add("StoragePointDbConnectionString", $connectstring) $farm.Update() write-host $farm.Properties["StoragePointDbConnectionString"]
This script will update the connection string and output the new value for review. At this point, StoragePoint will begin using the new connection settings.
