User mapping needs to be applied when migrating to Office 365. For additional information about user mapping and its available options, please click here.
One of the available user mapping methods is called Auto User Mappings. It may be used for the following common scenario:
metalogixtest\amahfudh > amahfudh@metalogixtest.com
metalogixtest\doconnor > doconnor@metalogixtest.com
metalogixtest\jsullivan > jsullivan@metalogixtest.com
metalogixtest\gbond -> gbond@metalogixtest.com
However, below is another common scenario:
metalogixtest\flastname > i:0#.f|membership|firstname.lastname@metalogixtest.com
metalogixtest\doconnor > i:0#.f|membership|david.oconnor@metalogixtest.com
metalogixtest\jsullivan > i:0#.f|membership|john.sullivan@metalogixtest.com
metalogixtest\gbond > i:0#.f|membership|George.bond@metalogixtest.com
Currently, the way to achieve this mapping is by applying explicit user mapping, which, although applicable, may require more work like creating the XML user mapping file and occasionally maintaining it if the source is being migrated incrementally.
Another approach to the second scenario above is to modify the standard user mapping script provided in the Content Matrix User Mapping from AD to Claims including O365 document, which is part of the Content Matrix installation zip file.
