What are the Mailbox Audit Reports and why are they empty?
Mailbox Auditing is a feature that allows an Administrator to specify a mailbox (or multiple mailboxes) for which to keep a record of all messages sent and received. If User 1 was selected for an audit then a list of all User 1 messages sent and received including the originators, recipients, size, MSGID etc. will be provided in the report (it does not include the actual message). The Audit function is enable in the MessageStats console under Tools->Manage->Mailbox Audits.
There are also the following Audits that can be enabled and reported on after a gathering
Domain Auditing (tracks all traffic that goes to and from hotmail.com for example).
Subject auditing (to match strings like Resume in the subject line of all messages)
Delivery Time audits (create a record of all messages that took longer than 6 minutes so that an email Administrator can trace the message and determine why it took so long).
