When Notifications are created, the timeout value is not set high enough for large databases which causes the component to timeout.
WORKAROUND
Default timeout values for reading data from the Web Report IIS site have been increased; however, HTTP timeout values can now be customized.
The following list describes the HTTP time outs and the new default values:
ReceiveTimeout is the amount of time allowed to receive a web report from the web server. The default is 120 seconds. Customers with very large reporting databases may need to raise this. Setting it to an hour, 3600 seconds, should meet most users reporting requirements.
ResolveTimeout is the amount of time allowed to resolve the name of the web server. The default is 0 (infinite). Customers should not need to change this value.
ConnectTimeout is the amount of time allowed to initially connect to the web server. The default is 120 seconds. Customers should not need to change this value unless it takes a long time to connect to the web report site.
SendTimeout is the amount of time allowed to transmit information to the web server. The default is 120 seconds. Customers should not need to change this value.
Some clients may find that web reports takes longer than the default 2 minutes to generate some reports. To enable notification of these reports, you will need to override the timeout values for email notification by adding entries to the registry.
To override the timeout values for email notification
Create the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quest Software\MessageStats\QMSNotify registry key.
Create the following HTTP Timeout registry values:
Timeout Registry Value Type Default Value
Receive Timeout DWORD 120 seconds
Resolve Timeout DWORD 0 (infinite)
Connect Timeout DWORD 120 seconds
Send Timeout DWORD 120 seconds
