Using an Exchange 2010 CAS Array that uses "RPC Client Access" redirection to redirect rpc communication to the CAS array will cause this error.
1. When connecting to your Exchange 2010 org specify a specific CAS server in the connection properties not the name of the array.
2. Using Notepad open the "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" file
3. Add the IP address of the above CAS Server and the name of the CAS Array.
Example:
10.1.1.1 MyArray.quest.com
4. Save you changes.
5. Open a command prompt and type the following command.
ipconfig /flushdns
Open the MessageStats interface and connect to your Org.
NOTE: If you have IP forwarding on the Network Load Balancing adapters MessageStats will not work as it put the MAPI connections in a loop you will see the same behaviour in MFCMAPI. To get it working you need to disable the ip forwarding on the Network Load Balancing adapters and then reboot the Client Access Server.
