Error: "The following error occurred in preparing the database for the given gathering: Catastrop (4219121)

When trying to validate the Connection Server Properties the following error dialog box is shown:

"The Exchange validation task failed"

When you click OK, the following error is shown in the log:

"The following error occurred in preparing the database for the given gathering: Catastrophic failure"

The MessageStats service account has insufficient rights to the MessageStats database

Confirm the MessageStats service account has the following database roles:

1. public
2. MessageStats_Admin
3. db_securityadmin
4. db_ddladmin

If the error persists after ensuring the service account has sufficient rights to the database, purge all of the task from the database by using the instructions in the following solution:
