Why is "<>" displayed at the Top Originator in Mailbox Profile report?
In Mailbox Profile report one of the Top Originators displayed is "<>"
This may occur due to the following causes:
� System messages, like an NDR, where the System Attendant is the originator will be shown as originating from <>
� Messages sent to a distribution list will have the originator appear as <> when delivered to the given mailbox. The actual originator is known at the time the message is created. However, it seems as though Exchange is losing the originator, or at least choosing to not show it. The existence of the <> is shown in the tracking log. Additional issues occur if the "Send delivery reports to group owner" feature is selected for a distribution list. If this condition exists, all mail that is sent to this distribution list will have the owner of the list appearing as the sender in the message tracking log.
For a given Distribution List, the given property is set (Send delivery reports to group owner). If theres no owner set Exchange is logging the <> character
