Mailboxes have been created in Exchange but after a gathering has been run these new mailboxes are missing from reports.
When QMS gathers mailboxes, it goes into the private information store and enumerates the mailbox table. This means the mailboxes have to physically exist in the mailbox table for QMS to gather them. When a user is first mail-enabled, a record is created in the homeMDBBL attribute of the private information store where the new mailbox will reside, but the mailbox itself is not created until the user either logs on or mail is sent to the mailbox. This mailbox is considered "unrealized" or uninitialized. Mailboxes that are unrealized/uninitialized will not show up in the mailbox inventory report.
To resolve this issue, i.e. to initialize the mailbox, perform one of the following:
- send an email to the newly created mailbox
- logon to the new mailbox with Outlook
