Does Litespeed for SQL Server 7 support CPU affinity on 64CPU servers?
Yes, this is supported.
. @Affinity in xpSLS and the Affinity commandline parameter (-A, --Affinity) now accept a 64bit value.
Further, internal SLS member has been corrected to allow a full 64bit mask in 64bit Windows.
A 32bit Windows is internally limited to a 32bit mask (an incoming 64bit mask will be truncated to 32bit length)
Important Note: LiteSpeed defaults typically result in the best perfomance. Modifying these options should only be done after careful planning and testing.
Before starting to tune the CPU Affinity parameters to adjust backup performance, try limiting the number of threads. If the decision to use an affinity value other than default has been made, it is recommended that it's needed limiting the threading as well. You may also want to consider using Adaptive Compression to maintain backup perfomance.
