Error received during installation:
"Could not open registry key"
Error messages may also include: Failed to open registry key for writing: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Imceda\ or Failed to open registry key for writing: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Imceda\LiteSpeed or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quest Software
LiteSpeed has failed to install or update correctly.
Perform a complete uninstall and re-install of LiteSpeed for SQL Server.
If the previous version rolled back, there still may be some registry entries that did not roll back completely, so it is recommended that a complete uninstall and re-install be performed.
This may also be related to a permissions issue on the registry key.
The server should have Full Permission for the user running the SQL Server Service on the keys (and all child keys)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Imceda
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Imceda (this one may display an ‘Keys are out of order; shall I reorder them’ message – it’s ok to say yes)
For additional details, see the Install Guide:
The Remote Session may also need to be started with Admin permissions: Start | Run | mstsc /console (opens remote desktop connection)
Control Panel | Adminstration Tools | Add/Remove Programs | Add New Programs | Run Install Programs (choose LiteSpeed*.msi)
