We have entirely lost a SQL server. And we are trying to restore it using our LiteSpeed for SQL Server backups.
It appears that we need to restore the Master database first, and that we need to do that from the command line. We see the section in the LiteSpeed User Guide "Manually Restore A Master Database".
And then looks like we just restore the rest of the system databases the normal way. And then restore the user databases
The complication is that we do not have LiteSpeed already installed on that machine to which we are restoring. And we know we need to at least have the LiteSpeed engine installed on that machine in order to perform the database restores.
Doesn't this get us in a chicken-and-egg problem though? When we try to install LiteSpeed, we don't get LiteSpeed's extended stored procedures installed because they get installed onto the master database, which doesn't currently exist.
