After upgrading to a new version of LiteSpeed a node called 'SQLLiteSpeed' can be seen within the Enterprise console, clicking this node results in a Error:
"Access Violation in module SLS.EXE"
The SQLLiteSpeed node that you are seeing as a SQL Server Group should not be there and is a configuration issue which is causing the error message.
The configuration of LiteSpeed has been corrupted during the upgrade process. Perform the following actions to uninstall the software and reinstall.
You should not need to restart the server while performing any of the actions listed below:
1. Run Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel to Remove SQL LiteSpeed Program.
2. Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Imceda\
3. Manually delete the following Registry Keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Imceda\
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Imceda\

4. In SQL Server Enterprise Manager, master database, extended stored procedures, delete xp_file_search and xp_sqllitespeed_version.
5. Delete these files, written to the Microsoft Binn directory:
XpSLS.dll
xpLogShipping.dll
xpSLSImportStats.dll slssqlmaint.exe
When removing xpSLS.dll from the directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn a message may be displayeded when attempting to delete these files that the file is in use. Simply rename the files to be something like 'xpsls.dll1', the renamed files may be deleted after the next restart of the server.
6. Perform a new installation and reconfigure the server set ups. The SQLLiteSpeed group will no longer appear.
