How to set up and connect to remote Central Repository.
How to set up the Central Repository and have many servers report the LiteSpeed activity to their Local Repository and back to the Central:
1. On the local server, run the Instance Configuration Start | Programs | Imceda | LiteSpeed2005 | Instance Configuration. The local repository may have a local system login but the Central must have a domain service account. The LiteSpeed Activity Manager Service will be created with this account's login. The LiteSpeed Activity Manager Service should be set to Automatic startup.
2. In Enterprise Console | Connections | Central Repository click New, browse to the server where the Central Repository will be located, select the windows login and the LiteSpeedCentral database.
3. Once the Central Repository is set up, to move the previous activity from the local repository to the central repository, double-click on the C:\Program Files\Imceda\LiteSpeed\SQL Server\Engine\ActivityManager.exe. Any activity in the local repository that has not yet been moved to the Central will be replicated onto the Central.
Generally, we recommend that an account be set up just for LiteSpeed, so all servers may use the same account with correct permissions and the password does not need to be changed. The SQL Server role for both msdb and litespeedlocal databases (on both servers) may need to be "db_owner" .
Applies to all versions of SQL Server and LiteSpeed 4.5+
LiteSpeeduses the LiteSpeed Activity Service to transfer the activity data from each Local Repository to the Central Repository. You must specify the account used to run this service at installation. This account must be able to login to the Central Repository using Windows Authentication.
