Install security software in vRanger virtual appliance. (4042323)

To address the numerous vulnerabilities from affecting the appliances, which, with them being LinuxFromScratch, vRanger should be releasing a new version of the appliance every couple weeks, not months or years until a new release of the entire product comes out. To handle this vRanger should support using a commercially supported operating system (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS/AlmaLinux, OpenSuse, etc) as a base OS so it can be updated from their maintainers instead of being built from scratch every time.

Currently, it's not possible to install software in the vRanger virtual appliance. 

The appliance is based on a Linux from scratch kernel.

 

Enhancement request (VR-1428) to have VAs with a commercially supported OS, an ETA is yet to be defined.
