Access Violation error when clicking on the 'Connect' button

When clicking the Connect button, with or without connection details entered, the following message appears:
'Access Violation at address 0000000003890000. Read of address FFFFFFFFFFFA78E8'
This message will appear in Toad even if all relevant permissions are granted and after a re-installation of Toad. It will also happen in any version of Toad that is installed on the machine.

Please restart the machine to resolve this particular error message.
