SharePoint Hierarchy is Empty After an Installation or Upgrade

Issue

After installing or upgrading ControlPoint Online, I can launch the application but the SharePoint Hierarchy is not populated.

Possible Reason

As of version 8.10, the default behavior is for the SharePoint Hierarchy to be populated with cached data collected from the ControlPoint Discovery service. This is because using cached data decreases the amount of time it takes for the hierarchy to load (for large tenants it can decrease loading time by several minutes over using real-time data). Therefore, until the first run of Discovery is completed after a first-time installation or upgrade, the SharePoint Hierarchy will be empty.

Resolution

After a first-time installation or upgrade, run Discovery and wait for the process to complete before launching ControlPoint.

If you launch the application before Discovery has run or completed, you can click the Check Discovery Status link to open the ControlPoint Management > Discovery workspace.

.CPO Check Discovery Status

Once Discovery has completed, the link will no longer display in the SharePoint Hierarchy.

To override this default behavior and have the hierarchy load using real-time data going forward, ControlPoint Application Administrators can change the value of the ControlPoint setting Load The Hierarchy from Database (LOADHIERARCHYFROMDATABASE).
