Auditing requirements

To audit Microsoft Skype for Business Server 2015 / Microsoft Lync Server 2013 events:

•
Ensure that Microsoft Skype for Business Server 2015 or Microsoft Lync Server 2013 has been deployed according to Microsoft’s deployment requirements.
•
To audit changes to security setting stored in Active Directory, deploy agents to Active Directory domain controllers.
•
To audit changes to management data such as topology, configurations and policies stored in the Central Management Store (CMS) database, deploy agents on the SQL server hosting the CMS.
•
Ensure that the system requirements are met.
•
Create a template to define the Central Management Store to audit.

NOTE: Skype for Business auditing is only available if you have licensed Change Auditor for Skype for Business. If you do not have a valid license you can use the features, however, associated events are not captured. To verify that it is licensed, right-click the coordinator icon in the system tray and select Licensing.

Skype for Business Auditing page

The Skype for Business Auditing page displays when Skype for Business is selected from the Auditing task list in the navigation pane of the Administration Tasks tab. From this page, you can start the Skype for Business Auditing wizard and create a template. You can also edit existing templates and remove templates that are no longer being used.

NOTE: Authorization to use the administration tasks on the Administrations Tasks tab is defined using the Application User Interface page under the Configuration task list. If you are denied access to the tasks on this page, see the Change Auditor User Guide for more information about how to gain access.

The following information is displayed for each template:

Template
Displays the name assigned to the auditing template when it was created.
Status
Indicates whether the auditing template is enabled or disabled.
Central Management Store (CMS) Instance name
Displays the Central Management Store server instance being audited.

NOTE: The cells directly under the main heading rows are used for filtering data. That is, as you enter characters into these cells, the client redisplays the templates that meet the search criteria (i.e., comparison operator and characters entered). For more details about using the data filtering function provided throughout the client, see the Change Auditor User Guide.
