Description:
Encrypted file system backups within a cluster environment.
Symptoms:
File system backups using the encryption plugin within a netvault cluster configuration will fail with the following error Message: "Cryptography not licensed"
Currently the encryption plugin is distributed and licensed as a standard netvault plugin, the plugin is installed on a physical client and the license key is cut for the physical client and installed on the same machine.
The encryption plugin works in tandem with the file system plugin however it currently cannot function within a cluster environment, since it requires a similar cluster aware license on the netvault server and installation on the virtual client via the server.
This license currently is not avaialable and an attempt to use the encrpytion plugin with the cluster aware file system plugin with encryption plugin licensed on the physical node/client.
results in the following error message:
"Cryptography not licensed"
The client needs to be backed up in non cluster mode:
Target any file system backups that require encryption through the physical nodes/clients as standard file system plugin backups not through the virtual clients as cluster aware backups.
Any shared data volume will only visible on the client that it is currently assigned/live so any fail over of the data volume from one client to the other will not be tracked within the non cluster backups
