Description: Procedure for running Netvault as a non-root user
1. Install NetVault as root
2. Create a group called backup
3. add the required users to the backup group including root
4. Change the permissions on the Netvault directory and all subdirectories and files chmod 1775 - R netvault
5. Change group owner to backup on the Netvault directory and all subdirectories
You should now be able to login as a backup operator and run the Netvault GUI.
Note:
You do not have the required privileges to write many of the Netvault configuration files. You will be able to launch the Netvault configurator and look at all of the settings however you will not be able to modify any setting. The configurator will appear to take the information however once you close the screen and reenter the changes will be gone and not committed. You will not be able to enable tracing so when speaking to support you need to let them know that you are running the GUI only and have limited rights in the Netvault configurator.
