Troubleshooting the set up of statistics or repository databases for the Activity Logging

1. Mapped drives are not supported, they must be shared.
2. In SQL Server, Enterprise Manager (or SSMS in 2005) Properties under database, if the path for the default locations of the databases .mdf and .ldf are in a different location than the sysdbs, the repositories may not be set up or may display various error messages. Once the database properties are corrected, the Activity Logging for statistics may be set up and will function normally.
3. The user account owning the statistics replication service must have permission to insert, update, and delete from MSDB and the local/central repositories. The job�s owner is the creator, by default. The user's account must have the master database as its login default database. The Job Step �Run as� user and the owner must be sysadmin and have permission to run the SQL Server Agent.
