We have two windows 2003 server R2, SP2 Big Brother clients failing with a Dr Watson error. Restarting the service again fails with Dr Watson or generic error "Cannot start service 1067". Remove, reboot and install of bb client does not clear errors.
Dr Watson error is:
"Application bbnt.exe generated an application error, the error occurred at XXX. Exception generated was c0000005 at address 7c82A36B (ntdll! relrestorelastwin32error), then dump. Other client had similar Watson error but exception generated was c0000005 at address 7C82A754 (ntdll! wcslen)"
There was an issue for error handling on WMI operation that causes failures when you have huge logs in event log.
A workaround binary bbnt.exe is attached to the solution.
1. Make a backup of your existing bbnt.exe file.
2. Replace with the attached bbnt.exe.
3. Restart the BigBrother client.
