When using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and installing a second Quest NDS Migrator console, it is not possible to configure the console to use a pre-existing database on another server. The DBInstaller application allows the target database server to be selected but is unable to obtain version information and consequently configuration of the new Quest NDS Migrator console cannot be completed.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is by default only configured to accept local connections.
Run the Microsoft SQL Server Surface Area Configuration utility, choose Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections, select Remote Connections and configure SQL Server to listen for both Local and remote connections using TCP/IP only.
Verify the SQL Browser is running.
