Machine Orphaned with Pairing Error (4035195)

You receive the following error message after adding an agent to protection in AppAssure 5 that previously ran Replay 4.

“Call to service method https://localhost:8006/apprecovery/api/core/agents/pairing/repairOrphan POST failed: Error occurred pairing to agent at URL ‘https://ermserver.occu.com:8006/apprecovery/api/agent/’”

After selecting “Repair the Orphans,” you receive the following error message.

“Replay.Core.Contracts.Agents.AgentPairingFailedException: Error occurred pairing to agent at URL ‘https://ermserver.occu.com:8006/apprecovery/api/agent/‘ —> WCFClientBase.HttpUnauthorizedRequestException: Call to service methodhttps://ermserver.occu.com:8006/apprecovery/api/agent/pair/connect GET failed”

After removing the Windows Computer Certificates from the certificate folder and PairingKey from the registry you, still receive the same “Error occurred pairing to agent at URL message”.

This issue is the result of legacy Replay 4 information installed on the machine.

To resolve this issue, complete the following steps.

On the Core Server:

1. Stop the Core Service.
2. Go to run and type MMC.
3. Select Add Snapin  and Add Certificates and select Computer Account.
4. Go to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities and there Certificates
5. Remove all certificates that contain the Core server name.
6. Go to Add/Remove Programs and perform a repair on the Core installation.
7. Reboot the server.

On the agent machine:

1. Stop the Agent Service.
2. Remove the agent AgentPairingSettings branch in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /Software / Apprecovery/ Agent
3. Go to Add/Remove Programs and perform a repair on the agent installation.
4. Restart the Agent Service.
5. Add the agent to protection.

If the issue continues to persist, continue with the following steps.

1. Navigate to Run and type eventvwr.
2. View the application and system logs and verify if there are warning/error events from the SCHANNEL source.
3. If yes, click Start and select Run.
4. Type regedit and click OK.
5. Locate and click the following registry subkey:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL
6. In the Edit menu, point to New and select DWORD Value.
7. Type SendTrustedIssuerList and press Enter.
8. Right click the SendTrustedIssuerList and click Modify.
9. In the Value Data box, type 0 if that value is not already displayed.
10. Click OK.
11. Close the registry editor.
