How to remove items from the VMware Environment Dashboard drop down list? (4315354)

Within the top level VMware Environment Dashboard, there is a drop down list which enables the user to navigate to various VMware elements. However, there is one entry (e.g. VMware Production) that is not needed. Is it possible to remove this entry? If so, how?

The drop down list items refer to Services.

Option 1

1. Log into the Foglight Console;
2. Navigate to Services | Service Builder;
3. Navigate into the Virtualization | VMware subtree until you find the entry "VMware Production" (or the name of the drop down list item/service you wish to remove;
4. Once found, select the "Delete" option (it's in the shape of a red "-" sign);
5. Once successful, this service should no longer exist within the Virtualization | VMware subtree;
6. Navigate to the VMware Environment Dashboard and click on the drop down list - the drop down list item of "VMware Production" (or whatever the name of the service) should now no longer be listed.
   
   
   

Option 2

1. Add the object type, example: "FSMService"  or any other to server.topology.objectExpiryDays, please check KB:

2. Go to Administration │Management Server │ Servers │ Object Clean up. Then check for Topology objects size for that object type, in this example We use "FSMService" and keep monitoring, server maintenance will remove stale objects daily.
