Where can I find step by step guides for upgrading my Foglight

Before You Upgrade

• Restart the Agent Managers (FglAM) before upgrading cartridges.
  You can do this using:
  • Windows Services
  • Linux/Windows command line
  • The Agent Managers panel in Foglight

Restarting helps avoid issues with agents that might prevent FglAM from shutting down properly during the upgrade.

⚠️ If FglAM doesn’t shut down or restart quickly, contact Support. They can help check the log files for stuck processes.

Foglight Upgrade Options – Simplified

When upgrading Foglight, users have two options:

Option 1: Manual Upgrade

• Download and upgrade the Foglight Management Server (FMS) and Foglight Agent Managers (FglAMs) separately.
• Then download and install each updated database or virtualization cartridge individually.

Option 2: All-in-One Installer (Recommended)

• Download the Foglight for Databases or Foglight Evolve installer.
• This installs the FMS, FglAMs, and includes all related cartridges in one package.

The all-in-one installer is easier and requires fewer steps.

Upgrading Cartridges

After upgrading the Management Server and Agent Managers, the newer cartridge versions already deployed to the Agent Managers must then be upgraded to a higher release

Upgrading Database Cartridges

1. Go to the Databases (Global View) dashboard.
2. Follow the upgrade wizard for each listed database type (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Azure SQL).
3. For detailed steps, see the user guide for your specific database (e.g., Foglight for SQL Server User Guide).

Upgrading Other Cartridges

After upgrading database cartridges:

1. Go to Administration > Agent Managers.
2. Upgrade remaining cartridges (e.g., HostAgent, Sybase, MySQL).

Deploying Agent Packages

1. Go to Administration > Agents > Agent Managers.
2. Look for Agent Managers with "Yes" under the Upgradable | Agents column.
3. Select the ones you want to upgrade.
4. Click Upgrade or Deploy Agent Package and choose the correct packages.
