Problem Description
Browsing to a device on the network produces an error message:
“Error: Current Security Context is not associated with an Active Directory domain or forest.”
Cause
The error is global and is not returned from the Security Explorer application.
Resolution
Verify that the user is logged in as a Domain Admin.
Open an Administrative Tool such as the GPMC (Group Policy Management Console) and see if it is possible to connect to more than one active Domain Controller in the domain.
Open DNS (Domain Name Services) console and check for inaccuracies in the A records or C records of the domain.
Check to see if there are outdated entries in the hosts file (C:\Windows\System 32\drivers\etc\hosts\) on the server where Security Explorer is installed.
