MAPI errors with Exchange 2003 Bridgehead / Front-end OWA Servers during Analysis or Gatherings. Error message recieved is:
You do not have administrative access to the server, or the MAPI subsystem has been broken by another application. The system cannot find the path specified. Probable Cause: No Private Stores were online, no System Mailbox users were found, or you do not have access to the exchange server.
Check: Exchange server access Result: Warning Detail: Unable to logon to this server. Gatherings requiring logon will not be performed. This might be a Front End server, or the LDAP port might be incorrect.
The following Microsoft KB article, 319175, provides the services that are disabled that prevents MessageStats from being able to do a standard MAPI logon:
This article highlights what prevents MessageStats from doing a direct MAPI logon to front-end servers. OWA uses Web Components and HTTP to connect to back-end servers. MAPI is not used.
For those servers that MessageStats cannot connect to, it is because a required service is disabled, DSProxy. In those cases, see the MORE INFORMATION section at the bottom of the Microsoft article to find out how to enable the DSProxy service.
