Binary log dumps or other system log files located on a Linux server are needed on a Windows system in order to send to Support for review.
One simple way to pull files from a Linux drive is to use a 3rd party application using the "secure copy" protocol (SCP) installed on a Windows workstation, such as WinSCP.
It's free and can be download at the following URL:
http://winscp.net/eng/download.php
Another option is to use the appllication called FileZilla.
http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
To use: Start up WinSCP, click "New" and put in the Hostname or IP address, username and password of the Linux server, then click Login.
With Filezilla put in the Hostname or IP address, username and password of the Linux server, then click Quickconnect.
This will open up a Windows Explorer-style window which can browse the file system of the Linux box. Next, drop and drag the files from the Linux server over to the Windows workstation.
Binary log dumps on the Linux box are normally located in the following folder:
/usr/netvault/logs/dumps/binary
Once the log is on the Windows box, just zip it and attach the compressed file to a reply of a Quest Support e-mail for that case, then it will be automatically attached to the case for support review.
