Trying to use the validate connectivity option in the SQL Server database autodiscovery and receiving the following message:
Failed to establish SQL_Server JDBC connection protocol to Host [EXAMPLE-INSTANCENAME], user account [sa] . Reason : [Unknown server host name 'HOSTNAME'. - Profile:MSSQLProfile{host='HOSTNAME, instance='INSTANCENAME, username='sa', authType=SQL_SERVER, port='1433'useNTLMv2='false'}]. . Tried to ping the server from the Foglight Agent Manager (FglAM) server and received message:
"Ping request could not find host HOSTNAME. Please check the name and try again."
The Foglight Agent Manager could not resolve the hostname for the remote monitored host.
SOLUTION
Add the monitored host's hostname to the DNS.
WORKAROUND
Add the monitored host's hostname to the hosts file on the Foglight Agent Manager server.
