How can a user account be configured to only see sql server instances on the Database page, not Oracle instances?
The best way to achieve this goal is to use the Service/Group mechanism and define several groups with their relevant instances.
Please see the attached MS-Word document which describes the process with screenshots from the Foglight FMS interface.
To find the Database Groups area in the FMS, select Dashboards in the left hand column. In the bottom left below Dashboards, the Databases should appear.
Select the "Database Groups" line below "All" and the Plus sign should become enabled.
This process is also applicable to Oracle, Sybase, and DB2 database groups.
This resolution however does not limit users to only show a user a specific database instance or instances for the host server they are responsible for (i.e. provide instance level security). Instance level security has been submitted as an enhacement for a future release of the Foglight for SQL Server (SSDB-1497), Foglight for DB2 (DDB-1742), and Foglight for Oracle cartridges (ODB-2061).
